I moved the dim fill-in lights and the dial isn't glowing anymore. It
also isn't white enough, but I'm taking a break from it now. Will post
it next to my web gallery page instead of continue to clutter up here
when I finish (ha! finish... funny).
Any comments might help me, and maybe not, thanks just the same.

Okay, got it re-done and uploaded to my web space:
http://members.aol.com/iotadot/l12ogpw.jpg
[theres a letter "L" then a number one in the files name, just in
case anyone attempts a re-write]
It now has the closest match, so far, to the actual coppery color I
mentioned before, and the dial is whiter too. Although, have to admit, I
haven't really looked at the real watch since I started this re-make).
Basically the same picture besides, used radiosity just to see how it
would go. Above all else the dial image_map needs to be much higher
resolution, there's a tendency to seem out of focus. It was a 300x300
image and it should probably be twice that.

Hi !
It's a nice one. But if I may make a few comments : I would decrease the
diffuse value of case of the watch. As apparently you've added a light shining
to the right of the watch, the back of it 'outshines'.
Besides, maybe the use of softs shadows would make this picture more
realistic.

Actually the lights have remained nearly the same, I removed one very
dim one and lowered the brightness of the two main lights. Camera
location has moved slightly. But yes, I know what you mean. The edges
were too bright and I decided it was too much reflection doing it (the
back wall was fairly bright).
I've since added a mirror into the background and changed the "gold"
once again. I was going completely by memory instead of look at the
watch, kept in a drawer right now. Big mistake, it may seem coppery to
me whan I think of real golden coloring but it actually is not much
different than the typical gold ring a person wears. I went and ended up
with a copper tea kettle metal. Well, it will change again.
I did use area lights once, without jitter, problem is not enough shadow
falls onto anything much.
Thanks for the input. You can see the latest 2 images at the upper part
of this webpage:
