Athre.
This is a completely digital and random world. No, I must repeat, no images
or texture maps were used in the creation of this image. All textures are
purely procedural, and are created internally with PovRay. Total file size
is....wait for it........3K. That's everything. Clouds, land, atmosphere,
everything.
Please comment, and enjoy!

This Earth-type planet looks really good. I think the clouds are
outstanding. WIP? What do you feel needs further work <s>?

Very very nice.

The edges of the clouds seem a bit sharp and the atmosphere on the dark
side seems to glow a little too much.

The land masses look really nice. Do I see mountains or is it just the
shadow of the
clouds? (Mid right hand side)

forums.scifi-art.com is an appropriate place for this I would think. Has a
painting look to it, brush stroke clouds. Don Dixon comes to mind for one.
Is it a good thing to say "POV-Ray freak since '97" when signing your
messages? Just kidding.

I was trying to do something like what you've done with the clouds,
but I didn't get it figured out. Nice job.

did you use black hole warps to move the clouds that way? i've wanted
to shift my clouds in that manner, but haven't really tried much.
there's something 'off' about your clouds, but the same can be said
about mine. i must echo the remark about the atmosphere glow on the
dark side, but perhaps that's one reason you called it a WIP. the land
looks very good. do you think the color gradients could be applied to a
specific pattern or to an image map? and when you say random, what do
you mean? is it a macro with parameters? if so, what kinds of
parameters and can the image be duplicated? i must say that guys like
you and mr. tran have been great motivation for me. i am most envious
of your years of experience. i think i have talent for this sort of
thing, but having just started this year, i don't yet have the
know-how. i've noticed that you haven't commented on any of my stuff.
hopefully you didn't think it's crap (or worse, think that it's so-so).
anyway, keep up the inspiring work.

That is excellent (of course you already knew that). Is it
parameter-enabled? It'd be a nifty macro if you could plug values into it to
make different planets. You could do a whole solar system with it and some
random (or hand picked) values. I tried to make something like this once ...

Yes, that's exactly why I called it a WIP, as well as the clouds.
I used the displace_warp in Chris Huff's MP+ patch to distort the clouds.

I mean random. The pigments that make up the world can be translated in
infinite directions (just not the y).

On the contrary, I think your modelling skills are superb, as evidenced by
your x-wing model. However, your texturing skills could use some work,
also evidenced by your model. Again, this is something that comes with
time and experience.

| anyway, keep up the inspiring work.
Thanks.
