This is definitely a WIP. I'm re-re-remodelling my blob figure, this time
with a more realistic head and bigger muscles.
One feature I'm going for is a fully moveable lower jaw. The black spheres
are just reference points to help me get the face the right size.

Before I saw how it turned out I was determined to post it, at the very
least for comic relief..,

I couldn't see it.

Just kidding. ;)

It looks a bit odd but perhaps not half as bad as you think. Can
you do a sideways motion of the jaw? To chew your food you have
to do more then move your jaw up and down and if you get the
sideway motion to work you can make all sorts of nice rotations
(with the two motions in synch or not).

Haha! Dump DivX maybe...

Looks like the mouth separates too much from the nose when it opens, in
profile view. Or it could be that since the nose is so stationary it looks
odd.

I guess it's time someone makes a quality video player for
Windows. I have had no problems with any of the postings so far
with MPlayer on Linux.

Now that you said it, I realize that the stationary nose is what
was troubling me too :-)

Greg, the animation is quite promising. Are you working on some
facial expressions as well? If so then Paul Ekman's FACS might
interest you (maybe you know it already).

So sad that it is not freely available. But one can get some idea
at http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/project/face/www/facs.htm

Thanks, but if I were willing to spend money, I wouldn't be using povray.
(But then again, I probably spent $70 on animation-related books in the past
month...)

I want to be able to do lyp-synch, so the next step is to cut holes into
these lips to make a mouth and expose the teeth therein. And give him a
forehead...

Sure. I didn't mean that you purchase it. But we can always
learn from whatever little information they have chosen to
release.

Lips would be nice! The animation, as it is now, reminds me of
Neo in The Matrix :)
