Hello,
I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions about how to create a
cyclical cloud animation? My project is a view of the Earth from space,
rotating once. I'm using an image map to texture the Earth sphere, but it
doesn't have any clouds. I'd like to add procedural clouds with some gentle
movement, but cyclical. I have a couple ideas that I'm working on (without
much success), so I thought I'd see if anyone thinks of a different method.
I'll post a still shot of my scene in the p.b.i group. Thanks in advance for
any ideas!!!

bumps(x+delta,y+delta,z+delta)
delta= constant*sin(clock*2*pi)

That looks very promising - I'll work on it this weekend! Thanks!

Even better is:
(1-clock)*bumps(x+clock ,y+clock ,z+clock )+
clock *bumps(x+clock-1,y+clock-1,z+clock-1)

Wow - I'll try applying that formula to the lambda variable, since that
seems to produce the best results...

Hi again,
I made an example-scene which shows the basic use of it.
Sorry for the pseudo-code in my last post, was a bit lazy..
To get the formula to work within POV one has to use
a pattern-function. The cyclic-animation Trick works
by making a Linear-Interpolation between two instances
of the cloud-pattern. The Trick is to translate the second
pattern in such a way that it is identical to the first
pattern when the loop is finished. Thats actually what the
formula does.
feel free to ask if something's still unclear.
Greetings,
Thies

Thx - nice.
I'd still like to know why I couldn't view the .avi...
Is it DivX'd ?
What version ?
I have the DivX 4.01 codec, but MediaPlayer just does the searching for
codec thing and even the DivX 'Playa' throws up it's arms in disgust. Is
there a newer version than 4.01 ?
I checked, like, a week or two ago and couldn't see a newer codec...
I can play most other DivX'd anims just fine, just every now and again I
find one that just refuses to play, no matter I try...

It's encoded with the free Version of DivX 5.0
