Even better is:

(1-clock)*bumps(x+clock ,y+clock ,z+clock )+
   clock *bumps(x+clock-1,y+clock-1,z+clock-1)

Wow - I'll try applying that formula to the lambda variable, since that
seems to produce the best results...

Hi again,

I made an example-scene which shows the basic use of it.
Sorry for the pseudo-code in my last post, was a bit lazy..

To get the formula to work within POV one has to use
a pattern-function. The cyclic-animation Trick works
by making a Linear-Interpolation between two instances
of the cloud-pattern. The Trick is to translate the second
pattern in such a way that it is identical to the first
pattern when the loop is finished. Thats actually what the
formula does.
feel free to ask if something's still unclear.

Greetings,
Thies

Sorry, here the same anim as mpeg.

    Thx - nice.

I'd still like to know why I couldn't view the .avi...
    Is it DivX'd ?
    What version ?
I have the DivX 4.01 codec, but MediaPlayer just does the searching for
codec thing and even the DivX 'Playa' throws up it's arms in disgust. Is
there a newer version than 4.01 ?
I checked, like, a week or two ago and couldn't see a newer codec...
I can play most other DivX'd anims just fine, just every now and again I
find one that just refuses to play, no matter I try...

It's encoded with the free Version of DivX 5.0

    Huh ? Like what-the... Well I dunno where I was looking b4 - I go to
www.divx.com and bingo there it is DivX 5.0!
    How long's it been out ? hmm... v.5.0 released 04-03-2002 - it can't
have been that long since I checked, can it ??? Guess it must have been...
Freaky... It feels, like, just yesterday...
(I must be getting old, or something.)

Thanks, Thies! That looks great! I was using a sine function applied to the
turbulence (lambda) of a pigment, and had a little success. The problem was
that the clouds would change really quickly between 0 and about 60 degrees,
then not change much at all between 60 and 120 degrees, then start moving
really fast again. It looked awkward. I tried to compensate by using four
different pigments each offset by a few degrees so some were changing
quickly while others weren't, and that helped some. But your solution (and
Greg Johnson must have been suggesting a similar solution) is much better.
And it's a heck of a lot simpler, too.

Regards,
Dave
