I tried to change the smoke based on the feedback I've gotten and using
the images posted by TinCanMan as reference. I hope it's an improvement
over the last version.
This one also took quite a bit longer to render. On my Athlon 1700 it
took a little over 3 hours. But I still think it would have taken at
least five times as long to get a similar effect using media.
Comments much appreciated as always. :)

I think it is a vast improvement! Very nice.
Except the first second, there it looks like a transparent cone... maybe
fade it in slower?

Absolutely fantastic. And since you never see smoke "just starting" in most
situations, you can easily avoid that first few frames being too uniform. Just
have it "run ahead" a few frames in any animation you do.

Well, I don't know about the first few frames but the rest looks
excellent.
If it isn't realistic it sure looks like it (you could at least
fool me).
I'm curious about what you0re going to use it for.

Something about that looks very realistic. I still think that the turbulence
should start a little earlier.
The most unrealistic thing is probably easy to change: in the beginning of
the animation, where the smoke is just starting to appear, the top of the
smoke has a defined horizontal line. You should try fading it in, so the
flat top of the smoke has full transparency, and we can't really tell where
it has started.
You might also try adding a cigarette, and maybe an ashtray =)

Hi Rune,
That looks great! Very realistic. It dissipates
nicely, but it seems to have an abrupt start. It
might seem a little thick for a cigarette, but
I'm sure you can adjust it to suit the needs. Maybe
the color could be a little more blue. Too bad about
the render time, but it's going to be worth it.

Yes definitely. I really like the way the smoke tendrils move toward the top.
They have that lazy drifting quality about them.

oooh! I like.
looks tons better now.
there's still something that I can't pick out that makes it seem CG and not
RL, but isn't that the same with all CG.

looks much better than the last, however i think you shoud make it thinner
at the base, and fatter at the top :)

Everyone gives praise here, and it's well deserved for the technical effort,
but let me add a tiny bit of poison.. On my monitor, when I turn up the
brightness it's very visible that the bezier patches still curls in
sometimes fast, abrupt and unexpected ways.. This is more visible now than
test 1 & 2 and those turns doesn't look like smoke.. Apart from that, it's a
very good imitation of the pictures posted for reference.. Very good.
