Hehe, thanks! :)

I think I'd rather fade it in as others suggest.

Thank you! :)

My particle system is far too simple to realistically simulate smoke, so
my goal is to just make it look realistic...

> I'm curious about what you're going to use it for.

I have no plans to use it in a longer animation. If I can clean up the
code enough I'll include it as a demo scene for my particle system.

Maybe you meant what object to use it for - well, I think I'll add a
cigarette and an ashtray after all.

Yes, the abrupt start. I'll have to fix that.

Doesn't that depend on the size of the cigarette? ;)

> Maybe the color could be a little more blue.

Oh, I thought I had made it very blue. I think I like the color as it is
now.

> Too bad about the render time, but it's going to be worth it.

And if used in a larger scene, the smoke probably won't take up that
much of the screen space, so in real uses it might be faster.

Thank you, that was my goal. :)

Well, I never expected that I could make it totally believable. "Almost"
is good enough for me.

Thinner at the base maybe, but fatter at the top will increase render
time too much I think... :)

You're right, maybe a tad less granularily...

Fine by me. :)

Yes, I can see that. It's a result of how turbulence works in POV-Ray,
which I use though the vturbulence macro. Turbulence has some abrupt
changes some places.

Unfortunately I don't have any ideas for how to avoid it, but I'll keep
trying to find one.

Hrm. Watching one of mine now. because 've got so many fans in my computer,
the turbulance starts almost as son as the smoke particles leave the embers

atching mine now. I think the smoke becomes blue when you exhale?

Hope so. I've only just managed to get to 1200MHz (from last year's 400)

I was comparing your animation with the pics that TinCanMan
posted. The pics were quite a bit more blue, but they were
on a total black background.

And it still looks incredible!
