Thank you! :)

I'll try to fix that.

I have an Athlon 1700 and it took an hour and a half to render IIRC.

No media is used, but all the transparent bicubic patches are also a bit
slow to render, though nothing compared to how slow media would have
been.

Hi Rune,

I've been working on an animation that uses media for
clouds and isosurface water. It takes a while to generate
a couple minutes of movie. I'd like to find a better way
to create animated clouds, do you think your particle
system might be able to work in that regard? I've been
testing out your system just doing the examples you
provided, so I've no real experience with the system
itself yet (soon though).

Thanks!

Thanks! These are very useful!

Hi Bob,

I don't think my particle system is very suitable for creating clouds
I'm afraid. At least I wouldn't know how to do it.

But there are other ways to create fast clouds. I haven't had a look at
it myself yet, but maybe you can use Gilles Tran's clouds posted to
povray.text.scene-files recently.

As for a replacement for isosurface water, that's not a job for a
particle system, but a heightfield with a function image might work
well.

Hi Rune,

The isosurface seems to be quick enough, but media
sure is sloooowwwwww....I tried Gilles' clouds, but I sort-of
liked the media ones better (sorry Gilles), especially for
animation. I'm using only a PIII 450, so it's just not enough
for some of these tougher pictures, like media, reflections
and transparencies.

Have a great day!

I can't make out any. :-/

Lousy screen -- when increasing the gamma enough to make out those shapes,
the bright white backgrounds and such are instand headache.
