Doesn't ring a bell.

That's not possible with glows, but you gave me another idea: I'll try to
scale the turbulence longer in the y direction and see if that improves it.
:)

Again, that's not so easy to control with glows. But I'll keep it in mind
for my media experiments which I will do later!

Thank you! :)

I think you're right...

I hadn't thought about that, but it could be interpreted that way. I don't
really have any smoke in the scene though, so it would just be fake if
anything.

Good idea, I'll try!

To get a reasonable crackling sound, take 1 (one) plastic crisp packet,
and rustle, crunch and otherwise mangle it next to the microphone. Well
that's how they did the fire sound effect in the original Populous,
anyway :)

As far as the file size goes, you're on your own...

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Just viewed both of them. Very nice! Makes me want to break out the
marshmallows. Hmmm. . . a few glowing logs at the base and nobody would
know it wasn't transparent; a little blue glow undulating across their
surface. . . keep just a few of the un-turbulated particles from the first
anim and slow them down as bits of ash on convection currents. . . yeah.
Then I would need hotdogs too!
