160x120 100 frames. Took about 35 minutes to render.
Thanks to Rune for the IK code used in this.

***Rune - E-mail me. I've got a question about the IK.***

Enjoy!

So... how many hours do you have to work on this kind of thing? I am
thinking that the feet would take me a month. Of course I only have about an
hour a day to work on POV...

If it rendered that fast, why didn't you antialias it? At that res, it
looks REALLY jagged...

It would be cool if it shifted a bit as it walked, instead of having the
top part just "hover" while the legs move underneath it, but at the
moment I don't want to think about the sort of numbers that would
require... >_<

Still, it's quite impressive. I'm both inspired and sickened. ;)

Modelling looks great, but the way it's moving now, it should fall over sideways
while taking a step. And I doubt the wings will help :)
It needs some way of bringing the center of gravity under the body.
This is nitpicking, of course; the mechanics of walking are very complex.

I think he is getting ready to model the psuedo-gyroscopic field
generators...

HEY! Ask it here! I'm considering jumping to Rune's IK system, too!

So sad, I can't play it with mtv and aKtion gives me a unknown codec error...
is there a way you could create a mpeg with it? I would love to see that thing
moving!

Thanks,
	Simon

As I suggested earlier, those wings, if about 2-3x longer, would provide the balance
that you are suggesting this (otherwise visionary and supercool) model is lacking.

This is nitpicking only when realism is irrelevant.

However, certain levels of coolness require a commensurate degree of realism.

This is why all of my walking creatures have four, five, or six legs. That way
they always have at least two feet on the ground. The physics of the bipedal
gait are non-trivial.

John
