People, people, tempers, please.

I could be wrong, since this is IMHO, but I don't think Xplo meant his/her
remarks to be overly-critical. I think you mistook humour for sniping.

I think it goes without saying that everyone contributing to this group is full
of admiration for the work of those who have developed 3.5 and its various
interfaces. It also goes without saying that developers are understandably
sensitive when they feel their efforts are being criticised, and both developers
and contributors need to recognise this. All user-posts to this group, IMHO,
come with an invisible sig. that reads "and btw, fantastic work...."

Ahh! Now I see why you didn't want to discuss it ;)

Yeh pov sucks. I'm going back to paintbrush....

I have noticed this too, and as a plain old non-POV-Team user, I would like to echo
Tom's sentiment that we definitely appreciate the hard work that has gone into 3.5.
I think the new release is so overwheling that people are diving into it and pulling
up things and saying "Look what I found! Is it a bug, do you think?" while the POV
team, who have been living with this release for a long time, are saying "No, you
nit, that's an undocumented feature - don't you know anything?" I hope we can all
chalk it up to post-release excitement, and that we will eventually iron all this
stuff out.

Agreed. I completely disagree with Thorsten's stance on the issue of
shortcuts (and his tendency to explode every other time he catches a
whiff of criticism), but nevertheless I'm grateful for the time and
effort he puts into developing and maintaining POV-Ray and making it
available to the Mac community, and for the most part I think he does an
excellent job.

In the future, I suppose I shall have to refrain from making bug reports
and feature requests.

Bug reports are welcome. However, I warned everyone about feature requests
in the very first message in this group and had hoped people would listen.
I can repost that part again for you in case you missed it.

I could imagine that, regarding to the current traffic in this group, you
should better post it on a daily basis (maybe combined with canceling the old
posts), with a big fat subjectline: "ONLY BUGS, NO FEATURE-REQUESTS, ... AND
_RTFM_ !!!" ... so it is in sight when someone opens his newsreader ...

I suppose I could but for the time being I think I will stick with individual
reminders unless it gets really out of hand.
