Assigning an object to a light source? (Message 1 to 6 of 6)

Is anyone aware of a way to assign an object to a light source in Moray? In
POV, this is done by using the looks_like keyword to make the light look
like it's coming from the object itself (e.g. a lightbulb). Any help at all
would be greatly appreciated!

As far as I know, there is no way to do it Moray. The Cylinder light isn't
supported either.

The only way I've been able to do anything like that in (outside) Moray is
to Export the scene first (under the Render menu) and then open the exported
code in POV-Ray and tweek the files by hand.

Anybody else??

Dave

Hi Bill Hedge, you recently wrote in moray.win:

When POV-Ray sees the looks_like keyword it creates a union of the
object and the light and sets the no_shadow flag of the object. Since
this is trivial to do in Moray, there is no need to directly support
the looks_like keyword. Simply create a Group object, add the object
and the light and check the no_shadow checkbox of the object (not of
the group).

You really sould tell people these things, trivial they may be, but as a lot
of POV beginners start with Moray, maybe its time to support all the
odd-ball fringe commands..

also. how about adding super patch support?

Rick

I do try to tell them as many things as possible, but I guess I miss
some..... Where would you expect to find this type of information?

Our development efforts are concentrated on the official version and
on the improvement of the Moray interface. Support for the SuperPatch
would be the perfect project for someone with SuperPatch expertise to
implement with the Plugin SDK.
