This could be an interesting base to think about

I think that the most of the data could be retrieved from personal
copies of the users. My current thinking is that we should look to rely
on some existing platform adapting it to *rtc needs.

I was just looking at wordpress and gallery plugins because I
consider adding a blog to my webpage, and out of the box it would
seem to be possible to simply create an "album" for a specific
topic or contest, and all registered users can upload images,
comment on other images and rate them on a 1-5 star system.
(this was the "wordpress photo album plus" plugin).

Of course there is no automatic system to limit the dates of
a contest or determine winners.

Sorry, was knocked out by the flu some days...

What should I say to this. Yes, I'm guilty, I've have done it (not one at a
time), but only the images and the animations themselves (storing the authors
and main statistics as well) but not the comments by the authors or the voters.
But I'm working on it...

Most of the IRTC data are still available only the second period is lost. All
entries from the beginning till the hiatus 2006 are still available (ftp-link at
www.irtc.org).

This may prove a problem since he even forgot the invoices you told.

No, I don't think so. It is quite a small amount.

Glad, your over your flu. I had it at the beginning of the year, not nice.

Nasty thing. Hope you are better now.

I stand corrected. I overlooked the ftp link. Typical blindness hiding
lines below the ones I am looking at in the first place ;-)

It could be a starting point.
It seems that the major difficult to maintain irtc (old and new) and
tc-rtc sites is in the lack of time of the members of the POV-community.
I like custom solution, but without time to develop them I'd prefer to
use a mature existing system (like WordPress and the plugin you suggest).

If you want, I can resurrect the data for the most recent IRTC run and
provide titles, descriptions, authors, comments and links to images for
all the entries in all the contests. With a small amount of effort I can
export it in XML format.

Thank you, David!
As said, I think that IRTC & TC-RTC's history is valuable for people
interested into raytracing.
At the moment I'm very busy in real life, but this summer I wish I could
explore the capabilities of Wordpress (or something similar) and ask for
pov-users opinions.
A dump of latest IRTC entries will be surely useful.
