Well, yeah, that's doable also...

...as is computing *all* the data for the entire animation during the 
parsing of frame 1, and reading it back thereafter. (Not sure if this 
would gain you anything - possibly less overhead in parsing input files.)

...or any other combination that takes your fancy. ;-)
