and it looks like a macro creates several segments should work well. To
fake one stalk of bamboo, I would create a long tall cylinder along the y
axis and use a gradient y pigment, with a scallop wave, so the first parts
of the color map are the brownish segments, then the yellow or green takes
up most of the color map. Then you might want to add another texture with
another pattern that is partially to totally transparent.
