Check out the links section on www.povray.org - there are a lot of
utilities that can help with modelling etc.

The most important tool is your imagination. Patience comes next, but
it's mostly imagination. You say you've been using 3D software for
years - so you probably have both :)

All I mentioned above and two other things: first, read the manual
thoroughly and do the tutorials, and second, please read the posts in
the newsgroup called povray.announce.frequently-asked-questions. There
you'll find, among other useful things, a general guide to using this
server - such as trying to restrain from such language. Thanks in
