anyone else having problems posting messages through the web interface? I have
to try to login some 5 times before finally posting something. and yes, it's
happenning just now. Thank God for the back button!

Not a real problem, but sometimes its kinda strange I think.

well, I think the problem is just at work. Anyways, I decided to go
with a news client: Mozilla Thunderbird. Pretty good so far, at least
for reading. This is my first post. wish me luck! :)

woohoo! no problems at all! ah, nothing like new technology to deal
with old protocols... ;)

I'm also using Thunderbird. I used to use OE, then Netscape, then OE,
then slrn, but I've decided to go modern and graphical (while still
staying cross-platform). :P
The only issue I have with it is that it seems to like to automatically
open up a random new message (I literally can't see any rhyme or reason
to how it selects what to display, either) when I click on a group.
Anyone know how to disable that annoying feature?

I came to the conclusion that Thunderbird was displaying either the last
message viewed if no new message arrived since the last view, either the
oldest of the new messages received since the last view. Which may or
may not be related to unread status of the messages. I agree it's not
completely intuitive :-)
I have no idea of how this could be tuned...

That's the odd part, because it seems as though it literally opens a
random message every time for me. I could see if it opened the newest
or oldest unread message, but there were times when it picked one right
from the middle of the list. It truly boggles the mind. :)

I've skimmed through about:config but haven't really seen anything that
appeared to be related to it.
Maybe there's an extension that allows you to control that behavior; I
haven't looked yet.
