The funny thing is, the first time I heard of that
second part was somewhere in 1989.
Some christian group had worked hard deciphering those backwards
"messages", and Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven was but one of the
examples where they were found.
I had a tape that explained how rock music is the works of devil,
using those as examples. I don't remember anymore, but it may have
explained other things too, such as drug use or something, but at
this point that is just guessing, because I really only remember
that backwards messages part.
I don't remember the full list of examples they played,
but I remember there was also Queen's Another one bites the dust.

Looking at it under another light, it's a demonstration of how powerful our
sense of perception is: Someone was able to come up with the
"interpretation" and pretty much all of us "agree" with it. The day we see
the same quality/agressiveness/inventiveness and adherence to semantics, as
well as consistency, in pattern recognition at computer algorithms/programs,
computers will likely be passing the TT. BTW, more of the same here:

PS. Of course some there are authentic backmaskings. I don't know is there
are any vocals that are intentionally designed to work both ways...

Haven't listened to the clip, but am familiar with what backmasking is.
Brain works in such strange ways in regards to picking out patterns from
the chaos. Amazing really how we have the ability to perceive imagined
words from what is essentially unintelligible sound. Our brains try hard
to find something that matches our expectations. If you're sure Rock &
Roll is the work of the devil, playing music backwards is sure to give
contorted versions of demonic chants, commands and invocations.
Even more fascinating is hallucinations (perceiving something that
doesn't even exist, out of nothing), especially when they run counter to
conscious expectations ... :)

I'm sure that the human pattern recognition capability is crucial
from the point of view of human progress, compared to animals. There
may be some side-effects to this advanced pattern recognition ability,
as demonstrated in the video, but it's mostly harmless (from progress
point of view, that is).
