You ARE making progress.... not too long you never have had any
prospects. Now you actually asked QA girl and it seems like you've come
close on this one.

I think that we speak for all of us here (dissenters can keep quiet) -
we are PROUD of you for your efforts.

Y'know, the last time I looked, you lived on a modest-sized island off
the coast of France.* How far away can she be?

Seriously, unless you've been told in so many words to back off, drop
dead, etc., you really ought to stay in touch with her. Surely she's
not moving someplace out of range of email, snail mail, phone...?

Best case scenario: She finds that she misses you horribly and you end
up living happily ever after. Worst case scenario: You gain (a)
experience communicating with women and (b) a friend.** It's a win/win
situation.

* Obligatory Pratchett reference.

** Well, okay, the *real* worst case scenario is that she gets a court
order or something, but I don't see you as *quite* that obsessive. ;)

I have never understood why people are so obsessed with moving.
Sometimes it feels that not a month goes by without a friend or someone
I know moving. I know some people who have moved at least 4 times in
one single year!

I have long ago stopped keeping track of where everyone I know lives
because it's just impossible. I would need a database.

Bah. 5 years ago I *kissed* a girl. I still haven't been able to repeat
that feat...

Really? I thought most of you regarded me as a compulsive whiner who
never listens to any advice...

One of the reasons for getting a new job is so I can spend less time
driving there and back. There's enough big companies in this city;
surely one of them would like some programmers...?

Apparently she moves house every 2 years. She moves into a place,
renovates it, moves out and rents the old place out. She's hoping that
by the time she's old she'll have a huge string of properties bringing
in cash.

So not content with working for an F1 racing team and travelling all
over the world at random moments and completing her PhD, she's also a
property developer in her spare time. (Spare...time...?!)

Seriously doubting there's any *room* in this girls life for a
relationship...

Far enough away that I can only go see her once or twice a month. :-(

Well, I hope to stay in touch. But it seems highly doubtful that we will
ever be anything more than friends - which makes me very sad.

This is also a reason to find a job anywhere that pays you enough to
afford a place to live.

But we've had this discussion....

Let *her* decide that.....(Are you sensing a recurring theme here?)
