I exported a scene with a very special shape and all the usual map_types
didn't apply the way I wanted. Also, I heard of the UV mapping with POV 3.5
and read the documentation for see what could I do, but all I get was a
black rendered image.
How the UV mapping has to be used on mesh files such as rhino exported ones?
The only thing tried so far is:
uv_mapping pigment { image_map { ... } }
and didn't worked.
Thanks in advance

The program has to support writing the uv-coordinates from the original
model to the POV-Ray file. There's no way in earth that you could magically
make povray generate the uv-coordinates with a single keyword.

And there is no way to use the mesh information that I already have to
specify the uv mapping?

How would you map triangle vertices to texture coordinates?
POV-Ray can't know this. It has to be told. For each vertex you have to say
which texture coordinates to use.

True, unfortunately. But (depending on what you want and whether
you're willing to go through extra programs) you can try this (should
work partially):
1. Re-export your mesh in one of the common formats (3ds/obj etc)
preferrably obj.
2. Use uvmapper (www.uvmapper .com - also has tutorial on how to
use it ) or lithiumunwrap (http://www.geocities.com/lithunwrap/) to
'paint' your required texture/image.
3. Convert to pov using objuvpov
Depending on what exactly it is you want to do, there may be other
'solutions'
Hope this helps (and isn't too tedious :))'

I think will work because the object isn't that detailed, it's just
different from the usual primitives : )
Thank you all, I'll try it.
