Hello, everyone...

I've just released my eleventh animated short, titled "Service With A Smile",
and you can catch it at:

http://vimeo.com/9512599

It's a hand-drawn animation, but like all the other 2-D films I've done, I used
POV-Ray exclusively to layer the various PNGs, rotate, scale, etc, as well as
generate the final image sequence. I certainly didn't make POV overexert
itself, but that's not the point, I guess :)

Anyway, check it out, let me know what you think. Cheers :)

Great! More of that three-eyed guy, please ;)

You might try placing hand drawn characters as billboards into a
3d environment so you're not limited to a completely static view.

I really liked it... good story, sound was good, characters were well
thought out. And, funny. :-D

I know the spider was supposed to be very blank up to the end, but I would
like to have seen her blink once or twice, or shuffle a foot maybe, just to
fill out the movement on the screen a little bit. I don't think she takes
away from the animation at all, mind you, I just thought a little more
movement on the right side of the screen would be nice.

Thanks for sharing, hope to see more. :-)

Excellent!
I like the voice, and the rest.

Thanks. I've been trying to think of a way to combine the hand-drawn frames as
part of a genuine 3-D world without it looking like a typical motion-graphics
exercise. Some of the ideas I've had on how to do it would exponentially
increase my production time, and I'm doubtful the final result would be worth
the extra effort.

Maybe rather than trying to force 3D scenery into the animation, use
POV-Ray for 2D effects, such as lens flares, glowing objects, smoke, etc.
