I'm wondering here (while my code compiles...) how many people use POVRay
for _real_ work related issues? What is your job and how does it fit in?
Unfortunately my job doesn't require the use of POVRay.... :-(

Hello Mike,
Unfortunatly very few do so. If you see my previous mail, one can gather
that i am looking for a job where i should be using POVray.
If not a job, I have very ambitious plans to develop a 'Developer Studio'
kind of environment for POV-RAY with all the plungins available and ability
to add new ones. Something like Moray, but more flexible to coustomize....
regards
satyakam

My job didn't really need me to use povray, but I wanted to do some
structure charts for our program, And I found it easier to write the code in
pov, and have it output pictures that were the structure chart, for printing
out. I found that it was quicker useing pov that some of the other drawing
programs for get for doing structure charts.
Fran.

In my previous employment at a small software-firm with no design-department
(or budget :-) whatsoever, I used my hobby and POV-Ray to create
presentation images and animations as well as images for documentation and
software splash-screens.
I expect to be using POV-Ray at my current work too, but unfortunately I can
not talk about that...
Johannes.

I've used it to create brochure "photos" from Pro-E mold designs of plastic
we didn't have yet.
I've used to to model optical effects in infrared sensor design.
I've used it to illustrate why a proposed light pipe design wouldn't work.
(the moulded part worked JUST
like the raytracing)
I've used it to create "flying logos" for in-house video presentations.

I am in the research group (image understanding) of a large company
we used povray to illustrate new research project proposals.
It was quite convincing and worked out well
