Ok. This IS going to sound odd, but is there ANYONE here who gets the
CompuServe forums, and are willing to help me out?

Before you all flame me or something, I am NOT asking for the Pov 3.1 beta.
:)

I can NOT physically connect to CompuServe, thus I cannot get the latest
news straight from the source. (the Pov-Team).

What I am asking, is if someone who DOES get them would be willing to send
me a "digest" of the Pov-Ray forum, as it were. I am attempting to make a
news page for Pov-Ray, mainly for those who DON'T get CompuServe. I plan on
posting any concrete news on my site. I do a daily update of my site, and I
figure that this would be a good way to get some information out, such as
how far along Pov 3.1 is. I realize this may be an imposition for some
people.

I am also looking for some opinions for my site. I am thinking of
implementing a weekly/monthly survey, as well as a public gallery. I am now
running off my own webserver, so I have about 200 megs of webspace. I was
thinking of organizing it by artist, as well, with a bit of info about each.
Also, I was thinking of doing reviews of utilities, but impartially, with 3
or 4 people's input on each.

Any feedback for this? Do these sound like good ideas?

Please, let me know.

I think these are great ideas. In addition, you might want to think
about creating a page as a central clearinghouse for the various
unofficial versions of POV-Ray out there, along with reviews of each.
This is something I haven't seen anywhere else on the web. I was
going to put it on my own page, but it's just never gotten done. I
can give you the links I've collected, if you don't already have a
collection of your own.

I think your site is great. I hadn't realized there were so many good
POV-Ray tutorials out there until I happened on your site. (Now all
we need is for someone to write a tutorial on POV-Ray internals...)

Oh ya..
re: the "patch central" idea.
Good plan, and I'm more than willing to do it.
:)

Geez.
Now I'm gonna have to redesign my site AGAIN.

Hehehe....

CIS accounts are fairly cheap, and you can connect from anywhere, actually.
That is, you don't need a local CIS dialup - you can connect via the internet.
(That's how I do all my CIS work - I never dial them directly.)

So if you have a net connection, you can physically connect to CIS.

Actually, that's NOT quite true.
I did try for about 3 hours today. The cost isn't a real factor.
The problem is that for the initial sign-up, it REQUIRES a modem. there is
NO way around this. I even called their technical support about this. :/
I do not have a modem. I connect thru a LAN, as I use a cable modem. the
only modem I have, uses an Ethernet card.( and it is connected to my Linux
box, not a Win95 machine.)

Sounds good.

Another great idea

Yes, very! BTW, your site is very good. Most helpful, in fact. : )
