That's pretty neat.
One of my images is being talked about even (Eroded Crags) - it is
pretty interesting that a lot of people find procedural textures quite
understandable but procedural geometry tends to be quite a bit more
difficult to grasp.
Since Chris did not mention it - Norbert Kern's Boreal scene which is
being talked about consists pretty much of Xfrog plants.
And Chris: you sound pretty Australian indeed. ;-)

I find it funny that you asked for clouds on the newsgroup, and you
weren't asked about that; yet you were asked how many lines of code DKB
and current POV have, and you didn't know.
That's just like school exams! You get asked what you didn't study, and
you wasted time studying things you weren't asked! Oh well, that's life :)

I liked that the recent thread of implementing a webserver in povray SDL got
mentioned! :)
In the end, when David and Chris were off, they were actually talking about
trying to get such a cool tool in the hands of students. In fact, I've
wondered about it for long as well: why not expose math students to povray
rather than boring plotters or Fortran? The SDL offers better constructs than
Fortran as a first programming language and the renderer is obviously far
better than most algebraic plotters. It's very enticing to learn math and
geometry that way...

It was quite interesting to hear the interview. I know that so many people, like
myself, feel an immense debt of gratitude to David K. Buck and to the whole
POV-Ray development team; for, so much quality has been added to our lives!
I only have dial-up and managed to listen to about half of the interview. Long
enough, though, to hear one of the interviewers remark upon the quasi-broken
status of POV-Ray on Mac OSX. This was correctly attributed to Apple's change
to the Intel processor.
It would have been nice if it had been mentioned that MacMegaPOV works perfectly
well on the new Intel Macs, although, regrettably, for the moment, it does not
allow one to save animations directly into QuickTime.
At any rate, thanks very much to all who have made POV-Ray what it is!
