Hi all
Does anyone know a method whereby Poser 3 output can be re-uv-mapped to use
Poser 4 textures? I've tried the old cut-n-paste method and the results are
ok but not great. I suspect this can be done in POV SDL but I know not how.
thanks

I guess you're talking about the ability to use transparency maps. The
technique for using transparency maps in POV is the same whether the
mesh originally came from P3 or P4.
See "Converting Poser 4 models to POV 3.5"
<http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/posetut/p4.htm>
"Although Poser 3 doesn't have transparency maps, there's no reason
why you can't use the technique in POVRay on a model that originated
in Poser 3."
As far as I can see, the UV-mapping is the same in P3 and P4. If you
find that you really do need to change the UV-mapping, then try using
UVmapper Classic (free) from <http://www.uvmapper.com/>.

Maybe I should have worded it a little better - what I'm trying to achieve
is to use the more detailed high-res textures maps for P4 with P3 people.
The only way for me to do this so far has been to cut and paste a P4 texture
onto a P3 uv-map template. What I would like is to change the uv-coords for
the P3 model to correspond with the P4 texture so I don't have to use my
extremely limited paintshop abilities.

Got this - but I still need to cut and paste from the P4 texture
Thanks

I had thought that this would have been possible with "Universal Texture
Convertor" (now on sale at $23.99), but it turns out that it only
converts textures between the various versions of Victoria and (with
plugins $extra) Michael.
It leaves the UVmapping of the models alone and uses the known
differences in the UVmaps to perform transformations on the texture
image.
I've not heard of any other texture convertors for Poser except the
above mentioned "Universal" one and the (now discontinued) V2/V3 texture
convertor.

Whilst browsing some Poser sites, I came across this
http://www.morphography.uk.vu/dlutility.html
which does the trick and has some nice morphs to boot.
