Hmm gives me an idea for a rendering...
"Delicious, whole-grain cereal with the shapes of your favourite
primitives and some special treats (Look for all the stellations
of the icosahedron! Collect the whole set!)."

...sorry ;)

Well that reminds me of another thing. Why the only way to support the
POV-Team is to buy the IRTC CD ?

I mean, i like IRTC stuff but out of 200 pics there's only 10 that i would
like to keep, specially because only a few competitors put the whole source
codes in the zip. On the other hand, i would just LOVE to have a POV mug in
my table, or a POV mouse pad.

The webloggers in www.blogger.com can but Blogger mugs, why we can't ??

I know that sounds stupid and commercial, but i am sure there's more people
in that situation. I think the POV-Team should consider selling some other
stuff.

Will
PS: i hope i don't regret saying this.

I'd like to preorder a POV mousepad, too. And a T-shirt. :)

I guess that if they let "Ray Tracing Creations" and "Ray Tracing Worlds
with POV-RAY" go out of print, it probably meant that not many of us had
been buying them.

I own a copy of Ray Tracing Worlds, and, even after all these years you can
still go back and learn something. Although the book is written for POV-Ray
2.2, many of the concepts still apply.

Already did that, had the author of Moray write the bits about Moray.
Had lparser tucked in there too. I'm pretty sure I still have the two
boxes of floppies that held the text and images.

That stuff hadn't been invented yet. Besides which, I'm not sure my
blazing 33Mhz 486 would really have been up to it.

If only my wife and kids thought that way.

How about shipping and handling charges?

A quick look for places to do that shows it might be a workable idea, were
it not for one thing... quantity. Since it isn't feasible to sell single
items per person there would have to be a large sum of money invested first.
See:

http://www.mugs-n-more.com/prices.html

Considering 100 preordered items of each kind (hey, buttons too :-)) it
would take about 3250 U$.

I don't know how big the sales would be, but i think the POV Team could make
a deal with some other company which is more flexible.
It would be better if the "mug/bottom/t-shirt/whatever" company could sell
the "mugs/bottoms/T-shirts/whatever" and also deal with ship and handling
stuff. That's probably a less profitable option, but it would be less
time-consuming. I don't know how it works nowadays with the IRTC CD, perhaps
there's another solution , right?

Will
(don't forget i get a 0.5% for the idea :PPP )

Before someone pulls Will's leg because of the usage of the word "bottom",
let me explain that this is how the imported term "button" is pronounced in
Brazil. Sometimes (as it s the case here) it gets spelled like it sounds,
and we get in trouble. A long time ago, while trading pins and buttons with
fellow Rotary exchange students in Canada, I managed to make quite an ass of
myself by saying "here, have my bottom" to an Australian. Sad, isn't it?
