There's no way. Warp knows that, he is telling you that he thinks you
should run Linux and loose everything that you chose windows for to fix this
one oddity. Usually putting a space or a third "/" works just as well as
purchasing and installing a new OS what with all the new hardware you have
to buy to support it and the learning curve to make it do anything.

No, it was a sarcastic comment, which is a different thing. ;)

Your infinite wisdom seems to fail here.

to get annoyed...)

Quite true. Alternatively, you can be aware of this minor limitation with
your newsreader and fix it when it bothers you. Unfortunately, I'm having
trouble finding a way to add that extra space and/or slash to my signature
to make it Outlook-friendly; anyone got any suggestions? I can find a space
for the RON part, it's the PARKER part that seems intractable.

Even better. Your new career awaits...

Some useful tips:

Customers don't lie, but some problems may be attributable to "user errors".
Customers don't make stupid mistakes, they suffer from "intermittant and
unreproducable faults". Customers don't make unrealistic demands, they
"contribute to future development". Customers do not expect the impossible, they
"are not fully aware of the inherant limitations of computer programs..."

Hey, Outlook isn't doing it to me anymore! Hmm, OE 6 under Win2000 would appear
to be a solution. f-ups set...

You don't have to. Outlook will only put the file: in front of // when the
// is preceeded by
a space and followed by a character.

this will be file'd
Test file://test

But this won't
Test//test

Where did you read this? Warp said something about using a proper
newsreader and mentioned nothing about OSs. I, for example, am using
Agent and Pegasus instead of Outlook and am quite happy with that. I
am virus-safe, the software doesn't try to think instead of me, and
follows the standards. These are all things Outlook failed on for me.

Oh, and I can run them under Linux, too, if I want to, and often do.
This is, however, not the main point, though it plays a role.
