I might get nowhere asking but... does anyone know about why
hamaPatch (the modeller) doesn't Open or Save files and also why
sPatch importing doesn't recognize sPatch files?
Or am I the only one with it happening like it is.
Wish I could read Japanese at the web pages, might help. Maybe I can
get a translation from it though.
TIA anyone.

Bob

Hamapatch can open and save files, it just does it through the import and
export menus, as I don't think the author has decided on a Hamapatch
specific file format yet (not necessarily a bad thing, given the sheer
number of perfectly adequate formats out there, like sPatch for one).
Please note that this is all guesswork :)

As far as not recognising sPatch files, the only files I've had problems
with using the new version are the example files that came with sPatch,
and even that was cured by just opening them in sPatch and saving them
elsewhere as .spt files.

Try looking in this newsgroup for the thread sPatch-Seen it around
lately? as there has been some discussion of Hamapatch in it. The first
message of the thread was posted on the 30th of April this year.

Hope this has been of some use.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Thanks. That's all I needed to hear. Someone else had already told me
that they could do the File/Import (then OK) to get to *.spt files and open them.
I figured maybe I did something wrong at the time of first run and already
retried that to set up the configuration again with no change.
I was just importing the files from sPatch\Models folder so that must be it.
I'm not much of a sPatch user but I know there's a couple different
ways to save files in that.
I'm sure now I can get it right this time thanks to your reply to me here. I
really appreciate this.

Bob

Nae problem.

Besides, I only figured out the problem with the example sPatch files
today myself, since files I'd created from scratch in sPatch loaded fine
into Hamapatch, but the examples didn't.

Ah well, these things are sent to try us, and in some cases to convict,
sentence and incarcerate us too, but that's another matter :)

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

I`m not an expert but it seems to be a patch modeller for bezier
patches, like sPatch but under development (unlike sPatch, which
is a real shame ...).

It does the same things as sPatch, only moreso :)

And sPatch, in case you by some miracle don't know, is a spline based
modeller for Win9x which by virtue of it's inspired UI, clear
functionality and really cheap price <grin> has become almost standard
POV kit for a lot of people.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Yep, and it even has a smidgen of Moray there with the Material editor,
Light, Camera, setup. sPatch doesn't do anything but the wireframe and
shaded preview modeling. hamaPatch can even add in a few MegaPov
features like motion blur and who knows what else later on as it continues
to grow. Hopefully it will grow anyway.
