I'm sure people must be tired of me whining about win95-only programs
which I can't use and why don't they port them to other platforms too...
Well... It seems to end now. I just bought a new computer (PII 350MHz 64MB)
and windows 98 (oh boy it was expensive! I mean win98).
So now, at last, I can use moray, spatch, etc etc...
Hopefully you will never hear me whining about win95-only programs anymore.
(But don't bet for that ;) )

At first there was stunned silence. Then slowly the crowd sighs a deep
breath of relief ending in a large round of applause for the new convert.
Clap ! Clap ! Clap !
That is except for that one guy who barely heard as he sat, his muscles
cramped from so many long hours sitting at the computer, pounding code
into his pov scene in hopes of meeting the deadline for the i.r.t.c. contest.
"After this" he may of thought to himself he will have time think more on
it, but not now, still to much to be done. Way too much to be done, to be
able to hear, or to care, let alone spare the time to comment on it.
The noise from his keyboard was heard well into he night...

I'm planning to do that (I mean buying a new PC and installing Linux - and
Win NT - and complaining about the lack of suitable programs/utilities for
POV and related programs).

Ack! Another Borg in the world. That is just what Billy expects of
you.
My kids have this new Barney Live on Stage video (which is not bad
really)
I sing (with apologies to the original composer):
He's a little robot.
She's a little robot.
We love to dance and code moving APIs all day.
The other side though, is that once you've sniffed too much gnu,
you sound like this:

Well, don't depend on it working or so :-) (win98, that is)
Well, I'd better give you this then, just to let you know that you can't
leave it going the way of linux. *sigh* :-)
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q216/6/41.asp
Why neither windows 95 or 98 or any sub-variant will work more than 49.7
days. *rotfl*
A tip, unless you intend to really use explorer, get rid of it and
install 95, far less memory overhang(imoho) and you'll get away with
more space left :-)

So tell me this... why would anyone want to use Win95/98 ? For a grown-up
Win32 platform, use NT.
The only reason I can think of for using Win95/98 is to run old programs
that still use VXD modules. Nothing around here is like that... is it?

Mainly because NT is very expensive, and people like 9x's easy of use when
it comes to PnP and USB. I personally would like to use NT, but I don't
have the money at the moment.
Of course there are NT's benefits over 95/98 at the moment like
multi-processor support. I'd definitely like to see SGI's new
workstation... it runs Windows NT and has 4 Intel Xeon processors!!!
(he he he, a TAD out of my price range too ;-)

Well, there are also all those games that some people are so fond of playing.
NT just isn't quite up to allowing a lot of those. Guess there are problems
with 'hiding the metal'.
Then, there's also that several hundred dollar issue. Especially if over time
more than 10 computers are going to be accessing yours and you don't fell like
shelling out for the legally required NT server...
