Ok, here's a new message to stand out in the crowd.
If you know about this already, pay little attention then. If you don't,
sit up straight and pay attention! ;)

A submission form (and link to the map) is at:

 http://members.aol.com/wrld0rigin/povworld.htm

where you can apply to have your home (or main) location placed on a
rendering of a world map. Instructions are there, just watch out for the
annoying "Thankyou" web page AOL generates when you submit the data.
Join up everybody, even if the map gets overcrowded with pin markers
there's always the text of the list of locales. Which reminds me, I'll
need to add a place name entry into the web page as well, not just
Lat/Lon numbers, too impersonal.
Thanks to all who sent me those coordinates so far, and thanks in
advance to all who later will.

One easy way to find out your lat. and long. is to use a hostname to
long/lat
converter, such as this one: http://cello.cs.uiuc.edu/cgi-bin/slamm/ip2ll/
Just enter your IP or the homeserver of your (local) ISP and you have your
coordinates.

This is not always very accurate of course. This page said my ISP is in
Bonn, Germany. This is more than 100 miles away from my location. Some
nationwide ISPs like T-Online or AOL might even be off by much more.

But if you really don't have a clue about your Lat/Lon values, it is better
than nothing. Ain't the web a great thing?

Ingo found a site that can take the name of a place (town, city,
country[region]) and get a lat/lon (if it finds the place). Seems to
work well.

 http://164.214.2.59/gns/bin/validate_query

Enter the Name and select a region from the list and send that. Never
mind the rest of the page, unless you have other plans.
For the U.S.A. try this instead:

 http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html

Just enter Feature Name (city, town, etc.) and the State then Send. A
list will appear showing the coordinate of all related things.

And you bewildered me... for a few *minutes*. I went to it and looked,
thought you meant something about the headline-like title. Then I saw
your last name again and it occured to me. I was thinking of 'POPulation
Of POV users' kind of thing when I entered a page title: PoPoV. Didn't
even occur to me at the time that your name is exactly that spelling.
You might be famous someday then ;) sad fact is though I don't pay much
attention to those window names, likewise maybe not anyone else either.
Watch for fan mail just in case though.
