What about that little *beep* *beep* sound that's heard in the DOS pov when
it finishes a trace - you could have that as the windows exit sound... ;)

If your machine is as slow as mine, you should use a voice sample saying
"at last!" or "about time" or, if you are prone to scene file typos,
"oops!"

I think Madonna's "Ray of Light" would be appropriate :)

This is starting to sound like comp.graphics.rendering.zen. What is the
sound of one pixel rendering? If POV-Ray renders in an empty room, does it
display the result?

Is anyone here sane?

Of course it would display the result, der... Oh, I see!

But seriuosly, I think the sound would have to be based on the pixels
colour, for instance, the rgb value could change the overall frequency of
the sound!

So the goal would be to render a nice picture that also played a catchy
tune while it rendered?

Surely it should be more like a sort of 'TINK!' sound, you know, like you
get sometimes when you switch a fluorescent light on.

Of course, that would make it a *real* challenge!

I was thinking something along the lines of the Beethoven's 4th Symphony...

Of course!

rgb <0, 0, 1> = resonence of 0, gain of 0, balance of 1

a very sad sound. :)

That has been done... Fractint a (fractal rendering program) has a
mode that plays a note whose pitch and timber are determined by the
color and depth of the point being rendered.
(I believe both pitch and timber anyway, been a while)

One thing to consider with fractals is that they a chaotic and while
the results may be striking to the eye, it can be very annoying to the
ear.
