I've just downloaded pov 3.1 and got possibly a little too excited about
the new media feature. I thought that it would be possible (using a scaled
sphere and interior) to produce wispy bozo clouds in 3d. The problem is
that when I enter a transparency value in the density color_map the
renderer completely ignores it and uses only the red green and blue values.
Am I doing something wrong or is there a way around this problem?

It's in the documentation. It's the way it's supposed to
behave -- it isn't of the same form as halos.

Hi Andrew,
Sounds like you're trying to do the same thing as me. I have had limited
success so far in building clouds using the media of v3.1 - have a look at my
'Hazy Days ...' posts on p.b.i and the source on p.t.s-f if you want to see how
I'm going about it.
One thing you need to remember with density maps - you are actually
defining the optical density in each of the red, green and blue with 1 being
brightly emmiting/highly absorbing/hugely scattering media and 0 being
transparent; filter and transparency have _NO_ effect.
Hope this helps,
Mike Andrews.
