Hi Andrew,
    Sounds like you're trying to do the same thing as me. I have had limited
success so far in building clouds using the media of v3.1 - have a look at my
'Hazy Days ...' posts on p.b.i and the source on p.t.s-f if you want to see how
I'm going about it.

    One thing you need to remember with density maps - you are actually
defining the optical density in each of the red, green and blue with 1 being
brightly emmiting/highly absorbing/hugely scattering media and 0 being
transparent; filter and transparency have _NO_ effect.
