Yes indeed, it does. It is a beautiful object.

It was one of those things I had to be reminded about. 2003 was a kind
of transitional year for me and I did not access and/or download all the
code that interested me. So, I missed that one somehow but your hint was
enough. :-)

I shall make a version with this ring.

This is what the Kluchikov Ring looks like, without modifications to
number of 'turns' or 'blobs'. Intriguing structure to say the least. I
am going to play with the two mentioned parameters to see what fits best
as a space station.

No trees here, but note that the boulder 'problem' has been resolved.

With 10 turns and 10 blobs, the sky looks like this.

Nice but I believe that, if I use the Kluchikov Ring, I shall position
it differently: more as a 'classic' space station above the Earth surface.

:) That's an interesting experiment - I must say that I liked your original
shape better, and the rough/matte texture with greebles gave it a bit more
"solidity"/visibility as well.

If there's a way to increase the radius of the horns/cables in the Kluckikov
isosurface that might work a little better.

My original thought was to get a better look at the space station on its own, or
from an off-world perspective, or even an on-ship perspective :)

I'd try by adjusting the threshold a bit.

The threshold is certainly something to play with indeed in this
context, but like Bald Eagle says, and I agree with him, I probably
shall keep the Kluchikov Ring for a different scene after all.

Ah well... Real World news is an excellent Muse I am afraid. I have
worked for about ten to fifteen years in the Climate Change science
world so, when some scientific nitwit who happens to be the leader of an
important nation tells us, with much aplomb and not hindered by any
inherent lack of knowledge, how we should see the world, my primary
reaction is similar to the bull in an arena. The result is this image...
and its text. :-]

lol ray-tracing with a bit of commentary ... nice job

If you worked in that field, would you allow me to mention the
environmental project of a Facebook friend of mine? His name is Enrique
Lescure, and he founded the Earth Organization for Sustainability. If
you want and have the time, check out the EOS, they are on FB but also
have their own website. Tell me what you think about them.
