Looking at the images, I have to confess that I expected more from this
round. But I'm not even half way yet, so that may change.

This is just to say that I loved yours (perhaps not so much) subtle
interpretation of decay. You captured a very touchy issue in an almost
poetic way, one that felt pleasant and well thought and executed.

Best regards,

Roberto

Arrrgh! I've caught up to the previous future, and it looks like a low-poly
rhino skull with stock Bryce textures! I can only look at the same tree,
fence & skeleton so many times before it becomes white noise!

But ignoring the high sampling of Bryce beginner entries, there are some
very good entries as well.

Yes Txemi, very well done. And it feels almost like unwrapping a Christmas
present to see the objects you've recently posted in p.b.images come
together into a fully developed scene. Ooooh aaahhhh....

I've seen some images that seem to have the same author (and the
same skeleton) even though they appear as sent by different people.

Yes there are, like your entry, that tells a whole story by itself.

Thank you very much Ron. I wish I'd had more time..., the poser hand
need more work on textures (I shouldn't say this...)
Thanks again for your comments, and, once more, good luck.

This would be an easy way to get additional votes and scew the judging.

There are images enough to do that (I think they are between 5 and 7).

I don't know if the admins will check it when they'll receive all the votes
or
if they can do something about it.

All we can do is view, comment and vote.

Yes, after looking at all of them, there are several that have exactly the
same objects, & not just the skeleton. The porch railing in arzfrmle.jpg,
kckearny.jpg, & pdhdecay.jpg appears to be identical except for the texture.

Oh well... insecurity knows no bounds apparently. I'm just going to
comment em how I see em, and vote accordingly... I did just send an e-mail
to the IRTC admins expressing my thoughts on the matter. Don't know if or
what they can do, but I just thought it was better to say something before
the voting ended than to wait and have hard feelings going around if some
'decay' appears in the integrity of the results.

Thank you. Even though I didn't have time to fine tune the focal blur
settings as much as I wanted, I'm happy with the image overall. Glad you
like it too.

I second that. Gonzo's entry is certainly among the best. Quite original as
well.

I have finished looking at the entries and I feel like most here about the
many skeleton/Bryce images. I wonder if some teacher passed the IRTC to
his/her students as homework... that would explain the high number of Bryce
images with almost no comments, and also the liberal use of similar objects
and themes on those beginner entries. But then again, the truth might lie
somewhere else, so perhaps it's just me.

Anyway, there are a few very good entries this round, that make it worth it.
Since I haven't submitted an entry (real life nearly seized me this last
month), I will refrain from voting. But I wish you all good voting, in the
hopes that the result of this round will be as fair as possible.

And never mind my english, it's not my native language. :-)

Regards,

Roberto

For what it's worth, here's the list of the images that seem to have a
relationship with arzfrmle.jpg, which seems to be the "mother" image.

bddecay.jpg, cjedecay.jpg, costadcy.jpg, decay2.jpg, kckearny.jpg,
lostsoul.jpg, pdhdecay.jpg, sdwdecay.jpg, sfdecay.jpg, smdecay.jpg,
tombskle.jpg

3 share indeed the same railing (arzfrmle, kckearny, pdhdecay), 2 share the
same email (bddecay, cjedecay), 2 share the same tree (costadcy, pdhdecay),
2 share the same height field (bdedecay, sdwdecay), 3 claim to have used
Rhino with Bryce (arzfrmle, bddecay, costdcy). Only 2 (arzfrmle and smdecay)
don't include a skeleton+grave.

In fact, the key to this mystery is perhaps in the arzfrmle description :
"My computer graphics students were assigned to make a 'haunted house' image
for
Halloween and the extension of that project grew to a second story and a
picket
fence. "

The arzfrmle author is a CG teacher (which can be verified through his
domain name), and I guess that all these images are from his students...

Just read all the .txt files and saw that too.

Sure wish I'd gotten more homework assignments like that!

I didn't see anything wrong with it!
