Thanks Thomas, the ball (with accompanying mist) is /entirely/ Rayleigh
scattering and absorbing media, and  a similar smokey media fills the "room" for
the visible spotlight beams.

Overnight (2hr 41m) I rendered this steamier version that I like even better.
