Space Shuttle Discovery blasted off tonight. Here's my POV-Ray rendering of the
liftoff.
The foreground grass and smoke clouds are based on from Gilles Tran's makegrass
and makecloud macros. The tree is from:
http://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/plantslib/ .

The shuttle was rendered using a free model from NASA. NASA has a number of 3D
models and textures available at:
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/3d_resources/index.html - some really cool stuff.

The shuttle, now in orbit, is being monitored by the Space Shuttle Flight
Control Room. A POV-Ray rendering and source of this room is available here:

Cheers,

Rob.
