It gets less dramatic if your other slow-to-render elements can be boiled down
to jitter as well; e.g. for media effects, you can crank down the quality and
rely on a lot of jitter, too.

You'll admittedly run into problems when your slow-to-render elements are
geometric shapes, like isosurfaces for instance.
