I'm very aware of the similarities (and the differences). As I mentioned in
my first post, there are alternative ways to fulfill the use case I had;
clearly radiosity is one of them.

I had my own reasons for not going straight to radiosity, and a lot of spare
time. I have been constructing scenes using radiosity for a very long time.
I'm aware of what it can do.
