POV-Ray is a great software to render a scene, but if you want to create a
human character, it is not so comfortable.

One solution, is to use an external modeller like Wings3D to construct your
character, then export it to Poseray, and finally export it to POV-Ray to
render the scene.

There is a VERY GOOD TUTORIAL by Michel Roger which explains from A to Z,
how to create a human body.
It guides you step by step, with each part of the body detailled. Modelling
Feet, legs, hands, head, eyes, ears, hairs, clothes, accessories, textures
…

Even if this tutorial was originaly made for 3D studio, most of the
explanations are valid for others modellers.
You can use it as guidelines.

A lot of beginners, started modelling their first body with it.

Here is the original link in French

And there, the English translation

Finally, a little image to show you the result.

Not so bad, don' t you think so ?
