I've made an image a bit like your background before. A simple scene with 3
cylinders at right angles in a cubic room with reflective walls,
max_trace_level 100, and pigment rgb 0.1. Looks pretty good, If you change
the pigment to rgb 0, then you end up with weird results.

That image would be a good one to go with my weird image challenge in an
earlier thread.
