ofcourse, but there's things that are impossible or very hard to do with the
current setup that are more easily done with procedures. 

it's good that you brought this up again, because I've recently been
involving myself in Python, a very nice scripting language whose interpreter
also happens to be very easily integrated in C programs. it'd be slow, but
I think it can be plugged in with relatively little effort.
