In satellite engineering this is a fuel cell (ies = independant energy
source). In electronic telemetry this is a star (same translation).

Well gee :-) if so, then light groups should be just the thing to use.
See section 2.2 Light Groups of the MegaPov Documentation
Or maybe not...

I don't know, specifically, what Lars meant in his post. Rather, I was
relaying definitions that I had heard of. But, if someone approached me
requesting this information, in this manner, I would probably assume he
meant a star/light source. I would be very careful in taking that as the
only possible meaning, however. To a mechanical engineer it might mean
something completely off the wall. Given that we have foreign content here
(interpretations, etc) I try not to assume much. I fail, miserably, of
course. :)

Turns out it's a kind of format to do "luminaires" (luminaries?), as Lars
said at c.g.r.r. I found a post there where he explained what it was,
albeit a very brief word or two. Something which can form a light source in
a more realistic simulation apparently. I think the answer is going to be
no concerning doing such a thing with the current POV-Ray or MegaPov.
