Does PovRay run in a window on X much like the Windoze version? I tried
x-povray which I compiled for my smp machine (make newxwin), but I only
get console functionality. I can't get x-povray to run in a window.
Please send responses to ebe### [at] ncrrcom.
Thanx,
WB

x-povray only uses X to display the image.
There are various GUI front ends available but I've never used them.
Try Ken's links to find them.
Cheers, PoD.

Nope.
But in conjunction with Emacs and proper .el files you can get close
(besides getting all the features Emacs has which the Codemax editor of
winpov doesn't).
Here's an example of how it can look:

char*i="b[7FK@`3NB6>B:b3O6>:B:b3O6><`3:;8:6f733:>::b?7B>:>^B>C73;S1";
main(_,c,m){for(m=32;c=*i++-49;c&m?puts(""):m)for(_=(
c/4)&7;putchar(m),_--?m:(_=(1<<(c&3))-1,(m^=3)&3););} /*- Warp -*/

A while ago, I decided to look into what sort of code base to use for
putting together a GUI that's similar to the one in Windows (though I'm
not inclined to write a complete clone). I decided the thing to do
would be to find an existing application that had a lot of the same
functionality. So I picked one out, and then I moved into an apartment
with the lead developers on that application. It's a complete
coincidence; I didn't even know they were hacking on that application
until we moved in.

That's weird, Mark. Are they familiar with POV-Ray?

Yes. I've told them about my idea, and they're quite interested.

That's not coincidence... the POV-gods have smiled upon you. :)
