Hey there Jeff, since I've tried to do a lighthouse before and you brought
this up again I took a look at pictures of that one on several of the many
web pages about it. I managed to do a POV-Ray scene file of it, crudely of
course, based on what I saw.
Gail Shaw has done a lighthouse too, so have a few other people I'd wager.
The animation I did of it is at povray.binaries.animations group, subject is
Pensacola Lighthouse so you can't miss it. If you think it looks okay then
I'll post the script back here in this group. I hope you can do well with
modifications in POV-Ray, it's unfinished obviously and everything isn't
correct. I guess it woul do for a smaller imagemap in a web page though.
Btw, no, I wasn't working on that Pensacola one before now. Just delved in
to see if I could today, reason it's incomplete and inaccurate. However I
used height and breadth info I found on the web.

Bob

Hey Bob,
It looks good. My concept is to just have the lighthouse down the left hand
side and put the navbar on top of it (100x400-500). I think that I can work
with what you've got thou. I would appreciate the source code. Thanks for
the good AND fast work.

Jeff.

Gail has posted lots at the povray.binaries.images group. Searching for her
lighthouse I came up empty though. I thought of her because I figured she
had also posted source to her lighthouse someplace, also came up empty. But
I did come across Phillip Bartol's lighthouse from Sept. 5th 1999 in the
povray.binaries.images group, subject title More Lighthouse.
You'll have to give me a little more time to post this scene file I have
here if you want it a little more accurate. I found I was way off a couple
things. Should be posted here within a few hours of this message time.

I have??? I don't remember doing a light house.
I have done a scene with a tall conical roofed tower.

Is that maybe what you're thinking of/

No, I knew of that one already too. So you're saying my mind is playing tricks on me?
I really remembered a time when you (not you?) were trying out a lighthouse on a
shoreline. I
guess there's a chance I'm confusing you with another of the rarely seen female POVers
here or
something like that, but having done a search for any and all lighthouses I failed to
find any
other than Philip Bartol's (Sept. 3rd and 5th '99).

Until now that is.
Darcy Johnston posted one on Jan. 25th 1999 at p.b.i. titled Lighthouse Scene (I knew
it was a lady
of POV! :-))
Also in a reply to that someone going by the name of JM posted another, as did Mark
Palmquist on
Feb. 7th '99. Even Spider (where ever he is these days) posted a modified photo of
one, and Ross
Litscher at least mentioned one. A much more thorough search this time and still
probably not
complete.
Apologies to both you, Gail, and Darcy.

Bob

Take a look at the irtc round for landmarks (July-August 1999) there
were quite a few lighthouse scenes (about 25 IIRC)

How were you able to find post I did on jan 25th, 1999? Odd thing is that
when I try to do the same, I can't go that far back. I'm using Outlook
Express. Can anyone help me here? I wouldn't mind being able to go that far
back, assuming the servers still have those messages archived.

And for the record, I'm not a lady. :)
Darcy is name that is used for both maloe and female, kinda like Leslie.
Funny enough, people keep telling me they always figured it to be a girl's
name, yet of the Darcys I've personally met (3 other than myself), all have
been male (although we didn't all spell our names the same way).

No hard feelings Bob, :)
Darcy

Gee thanks, I sure hope not, after calling you a girl. Sorry (nothing
against the female use of the name!) :-]
Only Darcy I ever knew was a girl in school, that usually causes you to
think the gender is same as other people you've known I guess. I knew a
Jamie in school too and that was a guy, and a niece of mine is Jaime so when
I hear that name I consider both possibilities. As far as the name Darcy
goes, not so until now. My real full first name is Bobby on the birth
certificate and you might know how that one is a gender switching name. I
know a Bobbie and I've seen that females might even use the "y" spelling
too. Suppose I've said enough on that OT subject...
I use Outlook too and the thing you might need to do is reset the message
list in Tools/Options/Maintenance tab, Clean Up Now button and Reset; then
wait a terribly long time for it to update :-(
I think the same would happen if you Unsubscribe and Subscribe again but not
sure about it. Another possibility why I found that message is that I have
kept posts from way back on the drive here and even though some pruning may
have occurred on these newsgroups (a while back there was mention of a
cleaning house going on) my list still shows up. Again, I'm not positive of
that.

Bobby
