Hello,

I am looking for a procedure to fill a circular area with a collection
of spheres. I want to be able to specify the radius of the circle and
the number of spheres to use. The resultant placement should look
totally uniform. I have tried a couple different methods on my own,
but haven't gotten the placement to look uniform yet. Any help is
appreciated.

Thanks,

Glen Berry

I think there is no simple answer to this,
have a look at Erich's Packing Centre
http://www.stetson.edu/~efriedma/packing.html
http://www.stetson.edu/~efriedma/cirincir/

or at Eric's Treasure Trove (not allways available)

 Hi Glen,

Try the macro collection at twysted.net for a possible solution.

Is 'SUDS' still available?

If it is it may be on the POVRAY.ORG site. You can choose the size of
spheres in a specified volume. Just choose a volume that matches your size
and then replace the spheres with cylinders of the same radius. Or scale the
spheres flat.
