I guess, the headline says it already. I suggest, that the tab for each opened
file contains a small Close button, right inside the tab, beside its caption.
Like the tabs of the Mozilla Firefox or the Opera browsers, and probably many
other programs.
It would make it easier to close files that the current methods. Too many
clicks, too much mouse movement. Agreed?

Maybe this will do:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
[smp][win] Adds a few more options to the editor tab right-click menu as
suggested in FS#135. In addition to the existing 'Copy filename to
clipboard' and 'Open containing folder', there are now menu entries to
save the file, close it, close all but it, move the tab left and move
the tab right. In addition these new entries have also been added to the
window menu.
[...]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(Perforce Change #5748, checked in 2013-01-25)
Adding a button directly to the tab could possibly require switching to
a different GUI framework, so don't hold your breath for it.
