Hi guys,

I've added a new light type to Povray 3.6: Photometric light

With my version you can use any IES file.

You can read more here:

You mean that uneven lighting is not caused by artifacts but it's
intentional and defined by the IES file?

Yes, I use the 3D Candela distribution as a special attenuation function, like a
spot light but using real candela distribution read from IES file.

Here's a more convincing use of IES files (done in Vray, not by me).

The good thing with IES files is that ligthing manufacturers provide them
for free. People who specialise in architectural visualisation can then
light their scenes with the exact lighting data from a particular lamp
model, compare lighting effects with each other etc.

This is a new test.

On the left there is the OpenGL preview, on the right there is the Raytrace.

Here is another test.

A standard Light (point light) in the middle of the room and a Photometric
spotlight in the corner.
