I'm thinking about buying a wacom tablet, an Intuos3, based in part on the fact
that there may be linux drivers for it.
I'm torn between a 4x6 and a 6x8. My use would be uh, um, something to do with
hobby computer graphics. Does anyone have any advice on the difference in uses
or utility between the two? I was about to splurge for a 6x8" but then wondered
if it were going to be actually less useful.

I use a graphics tablet most of the time as a pointing device. I
generally set the active area to about a quarter of the actual tablet,
about 1.5" X 2". This means that I can span the screen without moving
my hand. I don't really use it for drawing so I don't use it at the
highest resolution. I'd go for the smaller or buy a cheap second hand
one to try it.

I use an Intuos 4x6 tablet. There are times I wished I had a larger
tablet. If you can afford it, get the larger one. If you're on a budget,
get the smaller one, either way, once you get accustomed to using it,
you'll be happy.

I've got a Graphire4, and it's working perfectly with an (k)ubuntu
distro. There are already the entries in the xorg.conf, you only have to
remove the comments.
