Have you ever used a software and felt nauseous? I just installed 
Windows 10 and I feel eyestrain, headachy and almost like I will puke, 
like riding in a bumpy car.

I am having trouble installing Windows 10.

I bought the 7 year old a PC and put Mint on it because I can control
it.  Unfortunately, all the good games (his only concern) are Windows only.

So I downloaded Win10, figuring I'll type in the license key from the
sticker on his box.  Put it on a USB stick and booted it.

I get the familar Windows booting spinny circle and it gets "this far"
and says "No device driver".  No driver for what you might ask.  Google
says for the USB stick.  To which I replied, "How the hell did you get
this far then?"

And now I'm stuck.

No, but 'Settings' is your friend. You may certainly want to look at the 
display settings. Changing the contrast and luminosity for instance will 
help. Also, do something about the lurid images Windows wants to show 
you, or use as a desktop background. I changed that last one to a nice 
Sam Benge work :-)

have you considered running MS Windows in a vm?  I used to use VmWare +
VirtualBox on Slackware, no problems (with Windows 7 and 2k as guests).

Games/DirectX need access to the hardware.

I have Win8.1 in a vm on my machine. (I did qtpovray for windows in it).
I don't know win10 at all, but 8.1 I get a 1280x1024 window and that's
it, also not game friendly.

in that case, I might try a different installation medium (ie DVD).  the PC has
a built-in optical drive?

Win10 is a 4.7GB install :) :(

And you just know that it is going to require network access to get
setup too.  They could have dropped 100MB from the install and
downloaded it.  It's probably carrying an unusable Office365 with it.

I was able to defer network access until after installation since I did 
not have my wifi adapter drivers handy. You will need network access 
eventually however, if only to "activate" the OS.
